On Saturday, July 18, 2025, the Cameroon Baptist University Institute (CBUI) officially signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Bamenda (UBa). This agreement represents a significant step forward in fostering academic collaboration and advancing educational excellence in Cameroon.

The MoU was signed by Professor Theresia Nkuo Akenji, Vice Chancellor of the University of Bamenda, who was accompanied by her delegation of senior academic leaders. Representing CBUI, the signing was carried out by Rev. Dr. Teke John Ekema, Executive President of the Cameroon Baptist Convention. He was joined by Professor Victor Cho, Vice Chancellor (Consultant) of CBUI. Their presence underscored the importance of this partnership. It also highlighted the shared vision of both institutions for sustainable growth in higher education.
Building on Previous Engagements with CBUI
Following the successful inspection visit of the UBa delegation to the Baptist School of Public Health (BSPH) under CBUI on August 28, 2025, this MoU therefore serves as the formalization of the discussions and commitments made during that engagement. The earlier visit highlighted opportunities for collaboration in mentorship, research, and institutional development, and the signing now provides a framework for implementing those initiatives.
This milestone agreement is expected to enhance mentorship programs, promote joint research initiatives, and improve the quality of training in public health and other academic disciplines. Moreover, by pooling resources and expertise, CBUI and UBa are positioning themselves as key drivers of innovation and excellence in Cameroon’s education sector.
