Excellence at the debate table.
The just‑ended Public Health Debate, organized by the Master Rhetoric Association and hosted at the Pan African Institute for Development West Africa Cameroon in Buea, showcased the brilliance of students from the CBCHS Baptist School of Public Health Mutengene. Moreover, fourteen universities gathered for intellectual exchange and sparring on the public speaking stage. BSPH qualified for both the semi‑finals and finals. The true reward was the chance to share opinions on urgent public health issues with decorum, honesty, and clarity. The highlight was not only reaching the finals but also securing 3rd place nationally. More importantly, our voices were impactful.
Moreover, the program was inspiring. It taught us how to argue with structure and how to analyze ideas. Indeed, it was memorable. Together, we shouted: BOOM BOOM DEBATE, BOOM BOOM CAMEROON! In addition, we thank Mr. Ali, Madam Bernice, and the students—Ngong Sophie, Massa Gasper, Favour, Elsie, and Brandon.

BSPH: Excellence in Education and Communication
Furthermore, the Baptist School of Public Health shows that education and communication go together. BSPH students mix knowledge with eloquence. As a result, they live the school’s mission: to prepare professionals who speak for healthier communities. Consequently, their success in debate reflects BSPH’s wider goal graduates who are confident in class and on stage.

The Power of Debate
Furthermore, debate is more than a contest of words. In fact, it is a crucible for leadership, critical thinking, and civic responsibility. Through structured argumentation, students learn to dissect complex issues, weigh evidence, and present ideas with conviction and respect. Consequently, these skills are essential not only for academic growth but also for shaping future leaders who can influence policy and drive meaningful change in society.
